A COBRA subsidy was passed with the stimulus package back in February, which provided 65% COBRA premiums through 9 months to employees who have been or will be handed the pink slip from the September of 2008 to the end of this year, 2009.
But the catch is that this subsidy does not apply for companies that employ less than 20 people. For such companies, the US government has the ‘mini COBRA’ laws, which will decide if the subsidy will be given in a case or not.
Employees under small companies not under COBRA compensation.
